Iowa Commercial/Industrial Custom Rebate Program

The Black Hills Commercial and Industrial Custom Rebate Program is designed to help you reduce monthly energy costs. We can also help reduce the payback period of your new equipment. The goal is to help customers save money on their natural gas bills. The program also promotes the efficient use of clean-burning natural gas.

Eligible Measures Include:

• Boilers
• Boiler Retrofits
• Infrared Radiant Heaters
• Efficient HVAC Systems
• Unit Heaters/ Duct Furnaces
• Thermal Envelope Measures for Commercial
• Ceiling and Wall Insulation
• Process Related Equipment for Industrial or Agricultural Customers
• Other High Efficient Measures

Please do not use this form for rebates on ENERGY STAR Thermostats, Forced Air Furnaces, or other measures that are covered by the Prescriptive Rebate Program. Prescriptive measures must be submitted separately on the Commercial Prescriptive Rebate application form.

Terms and Conditions

• Participant must be an Black Hills Iowa commercial or industrial gas customer.
• Projects must be completed between Jan. 1, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2011.
• All applications must be received by Jan. 31, 2012.
• Subject to regulatory rules and orders, Black Hills reserves the right to change any portion of this program or to end this program without notice.
• Where applicable, energy efficiency ratings must comply with those listed in the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Directory.
• Project must pass Black Hills's cost-effectiveness test.
• All projects will be individually reviewed. Rebates are based on a portion of the incremental costs between a standard product and a high efficiency unit. The amount of the rebate will also depend on the following criteria:
  • Peak demand reduction
  • Annual energy use reduction
  • Annual energy cost savings
• A final, itemized invoice for all materials and labor related to the installation must be submitted upon completion of the project.
• Black Hillsreserves the right to inspect and verify any equipment before or after issuing rebates.
• A customer who proceeds without pre-approval or applies to the custom program after the project has been completed may not be eligible for consideration of a custom rebate.
• Incomplete applications may be delayed. Black Hills reserves the right to verify sales receipts, cancelled checks, and installations.
• Rebates may be subject to federal and/or state income tax reporting. Applicant is responsible for contacting a qualified tax advisor to determine tax liability. Black Hills is not responsible for any tax consequences of the rebate program.
• DISCLAIMER: Black Hills does not guarantee that installation of equipment qualifying for rebates will result in reduced energy usage or demand, or in cost savings. The Customer will hold harmless Black Hills, Inc. and its officers, directors, shareholders, agents, employees, and representatives from all claims, liabilities, fines, interest, costs, expenses, and damages incurred by the Customer, for any damage, injury, death, loss or destruction of any kind to persons or property, to the extent the damage, injury, death, loss or destruction arises out of or is related to the conduct, negligence, willful misconduct, misrepresentation, breach of warranty or other breach of this rebate form on the part of Black Hills, Inc.
